Navjot Altaf : Lacuna in Testimony
28 August 2014
Speaker: Navjot Altaf
Navjot Altaf’s mode of art practice extended beyond the realms of art world and ventured to seek inspiration in the ordinary mundane public places, transforming them into bold sociopolitical artistic statements. In this conversation around the exhibition 'Is it What You Think? (Ruminations on Time, Memory & Site)', Altaf talked about her art practice through the decades and, in particular, her work titled Lacuna in Testimony, a part of the aforementioned exhibition. She described her collaborative projects that are an amalgamation of urban and tribal art in contemporary form, which also press upon the imperative issue of ecological sensitization. Altaf delineated her art practice which stems from the effects of the complexity of the fast paced digitalized world around her, where she constantly seeks to explore the inequality and asymmetrical human relations.
