Invitation for a Coup with PRABHAKAR PACHPUTE
The third session of the series with Prabhakar Pachpute, a trained sculptor and a muralist working with the medium of charcoal, poetry, and video, and also a part of art collectives like Shunya, Saptarang, and Clark House Initiative, introduced his ideas and interventions into the rampant mining in India, through his art and institutional collaboration. Hailing from a family of coal miners in a small village of Chandarpur, Maharashtra, Prabhakar elaborately spoke about his murals, and participations in different biennales. He shared his plans of creating an inclusive museum that deal with the shifting and transforming earth, the landscape, the environment and the often neglected miner himself, and how his drawings and murals become one such transformative site.
