Absence of an Architect
1 November 2015
A talk by artist Gigi Scaria followed by a conversation with Ranjit Hoskote.
Gigi Scaria presented an exhaustive insight into his practice at Absence of an Architect held as a part of the KNMA Talk Series, which itself was an extension of Constructs | Constructions. The Series recognizes the shortcoming of group shows in that they do not offer a deeper understanding of each individual artist and seeks to rectify that. Gigi highlighted the effects migration to a city like Delhi had on his own work , the difficutlites of coming to terms with and accepting its many layers, and its architectural and social modes. Beginning with his earliest exhibition after passing out of Jamia Millia to his work as we know it now, his talk facilitated a cohesive viewing of the sheer length and breadth of his career.
