A Public lecture by Vivan Sundaram

As part of collateral events around ‘Step inside and you are no longer a stranger’: Vivan Sundaram’s Retrospective exhibition currently on view, KNMA Saket hosts a public lecture ‘Time is on my side’ by artist Vivan Sundaram which will be chaired by Gulammohammed Sheikh. Vivan will focus on his formative years of his practice when he was living in London as a student of Slade School of Art in 1968-70. It was during this period that Vivan became a part of the student's revolution and also studied under R.B. Kitaj who had considerable influence on his later works. He will present snippets of living and studying in London through an elaborate and multimedia slide show. Gulammohammed Sheikh in conversation with him illuminate on their comradeship, as fellow artists in landmark exhibitions like ‘Place for People’ and the years they spent in Baroda after Vivan’s return from London. Bhupen Khakhar’s art and influences emerge as a common point and central subject of discussion.
