Ranbir Kaleka : Skins of Time
6 September 2012
Speaker: Ranbir Kaleka
The talk around Rabir Kaleka’s video work 'Crossings', which was a part of the exhibition with the same title addressed time, stories, memories, delving deeper within the self while elucidating experiences and unprocessed emotions. After an introduction by the museum’s director Roobina Karode, Ranbir Kaleka talked about his background and how art came about to him through ideas and events in his life. The talk explained the origins of these art works and why it is rather difficult for him to talk about them. He talked about his artistic practice as well as his experiences and events that occurred and led to certain works and how that impacted his thought process, his art making and his treatment of space and time. Kaleka helped the viewer understand his artistic journey by explaining the influence of his culture,
hometown and travels on his practice.
